The history of this routeplanner goes way back to 1995, in this year the researchbureau NEA commits a research towards the reliability of routeplanners for the professional market. Transport en Logistiek Nederland were at this point looking for a easy routeplanning packet which would stop discussion about distances between carriers and shippers.
Based on the outcome of the NEA-research there choice was the programm called map&guide of the German factory PTV from Karlsruhe.
From the beginning '90 the programm map&guide was leader on the routeplanners market in European transportation industry and therefor a perfect candidate for the basis of a standard routeplanner. By making adjustments and determining a few standardsettings the first TLNplanner was created at the time.
Meanwhile the TLNplanner went through a metamorphosis and is now a programm with its own identity.
Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN), the Vereniging van Zeecontainervervoeders(VZV) and PTV Benelux developed the TLNplanner. The carriers- organisations Febetra, FENEX, KNV and UPTR have connected with the mission of TLNplanner aswell.
